Airplane Crash At Lakewood Airport

The Lakewood Fire Department responded to an airplane crash that occurred just off the runway at Lakewood Airport earlier today. Emergency services were dispatched at approximately 3:54 PM and Fire units arrived in under 5 minutes.

Upon arrival Units found 3 Souls were on board 2 were uninjured and 1 was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment. Firefighters secured a fuel leak and contacted the Federal Aviation Administration as well as the National Transportation Safety Board to respond.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, by the FAA and NTSB to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The airport remains closed while officials conduct their investigation, but local traffic is being managed to ensure safety.
