At its regular meeting held on October 20th, 2025, the Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners formally recognized Chief Yahr for his recent honor as the recipient of the 2025 Fire Chief of the Year, presented by the New Jersey State Fire Chiefs Association. During the meeting, the Board issued a proclamation commending Chief Yahr for his exemplary service, dedication, and vision in leading the Lakewood Fire Department.
In attendance at the meeting was Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein, who serves as the Lakewood Township Committee’s liaison for Emergency Services. Committeeman Lichtenstein addressed the Board and those present, expressing his appreciation to Chief Yahr and the Commissioners for their continued hard work and leadership. “Chief Yahr and the Board have done a tremendous job putting the Lakewood Fire Department on the map,” said Committeeman Lichtenstein. “Their dedication to community safety is something the entire Township can be proud of.”
Chief Yahr was recently recognized by the New Jersey State Fire Chiefs Association as the 2025 Fire Chief of the Year during its annual meeting and awards ceremony held in Wildwood. In his remarks to the Board, Chief Yahr again credited the collective efforts of the Fire Department’s firefighters, officers, administration, and Commissioners, noting that the Fire Department’s accomplishments are the result of teamwork and shared commitment to public service.
The Board of Fire Commissioners congratulates Chief Yahr on his achievement and thanks Committeeman Lichtenstein and the Township Committee for their continued support of the Lakewood Fire Department.
