The Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners, along with Fire Chief Jonathan Yahr, is pleased to announce the promotion of Career Fire Lieutenant Robert J. Leon Sr. to the rank of Fire Captain, and the swearing-in of Career Firefighter Evan M. LaValle at the recent Board of Fire Commissioners meeting held on May 12, 2025.

Captain Leon, who joined the Lakewood Fire Department as a volunteer in 1992, was hired as a career firefighter in 2002, has served with distinction and brings years of experience, leadership, and dedication to his new role. His promotion reflects his strong commitment and distinguished service to the Lakewood Fire Department.

Firefighter LaValle, who joined the department in January, recently completed the fire academy and was officially sworn in during the same ceremony.
