Lakewood Fire Department Members Complete Trench Rescue Training

The Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners along with Fire Chief Jonathan Yahr is proud to announce that several Lakewood Fire Department members recently completed advanced Trench Rescue Operations training, an important milestone as the Fire Department prepares to stand up a dedicated Rescue Company to handle a wide range of technical and specialized emergencies throughout the Township.

Trench emergencies are among the most dangerous technical rescue scenarios first responders’ encounter. This specialized course equips firefighters with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to stabilize collapsing trenches, extricate trapped workers, and operate safely in unstable and confined environments.

“As Lakewood continues to grow, so does the variety of emergencies our firefighters must be ready to respond to,” said Fire Chief Yahr. “Establishing a Rescue Company will ensure we are prepared for complex, high-risk incidents such as trench collapses, and other technical rescues. This training is a major step in that direction.”

The Lakewood Fire Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Wall Township Fire Companies for generously allowing our members to join their trench rescue training program.

The Lakewood Fire Department congratulates all members who completed the course and looks forward to continued progress toward the formation of the Rescue Company.
