Fire Department Welcomes Eight New Full-Time Career Firefighters

The Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners along with Fire Chief Jonathan T. Yahr proudly announces the hiring of eight new full-time firefighters. The new firefighters were officially sworn in at a ceremony held on Monday, July 8th at Fire Headquarters. This momentous occasion marks the beginning of a new paid fire company for the district, enhancing our capacity to serve and protect the community.

The newly sworn-in firefighters are:

  2. Brett A. Hebrew
  3. Louis F. Nazzaro
  4. Qua’dry W. Lyons
  5. Andrew J. Sanchez
  6. John Z. Paitakis
  7. Vincent J. Vacchiano
  8. Michael J. Muratore

Chief Yahr presided over the ceremony, expressing pride and optimism for the future of the department. “Today is a significant milestone for our fire department and the entire community. The addition of another fire company staffed 24/7, 365 days a year, ensures that we are better equipped to respond to emergencies and safeguard our residents.”

The establishment of this new paid fire company is a strategic move to bolster the district’s fire and emergency response capabilities, adding to our two existing full-time paid fire companies and our excellent volunteer fire companies. This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of the Board of Fire Commissioners to provide the highest level of service and protection to the community.

The ceremony was attended by local officials, family members, community supporters, and fellow firefighters, marking a proud and momentous occasion for all involved.
